antKeep does not collect personally identifiable information. We do not require registration or a user account, and we do not access your contacts, location, camera or microphone.
If you add photos to a colony's journal, you choose them from your library using the iOS photo picker: the app only receives the photos you select and has no access to the rest of your library.
Your colony information (name, status, notes, acquisition date), each colony's journal (feedings, counts, notes and photos) and your favorite species are stored on your device.
If iCloud is turned on, this data is also backed up to your private iCloud database (Apple CloudKit), linked to your Apple Account, so you can restore it when you change devices and see it on your other devices. This information is protected by Apple and is not accessible to us: we cannot see, read or modify it. antKeep does not use any server of its own for this data.
You can turn off the backup in Settings › [your name] › iCloud › antKeep. Your data will remain stored on your device.
We use Google's Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous usage data, such as:
This data is anonymous and aggregated, and it cannot be used to identify any individual user. It is used solely to improve the app's content.
We do not sell, share or transfer personal data to third parties. Anonymous Firebase Analytics data is processed by Google under its own privacy policies.
The species catalog is loaded from Firebase Firestore. This connection does not send any personal user data — it only downloads the public information in the species sheets.
All communication with Firebase uses encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). Local data is protected by iOS security measures, and the iCloud copy by Apple's.
You can delete the data on your device at any time by uninstalling the app. To also delete the iCloud copy, go to Settings › [your name] › iCloud › Manage Account Storage › antKeep and choose to delete the data.
We do not store any data linked to your identity on servers of our own.
If we make significant changes to this policy, we will update this page with the new date. We recommend reviewing it periodically.
